UL to Give Free Access to Standards Library

January 31st, 2007

I don’t know that there’s much UL certification in the auto industry, but this was an interesting announcement…..Dan

UL’s certification customers in North America will have free online access to all UL safety Standards beginning immediately. The entire library of UL’s Standards and Outlines of Investigations will be available through a dedicated Web site.

At the new Web site, UL product certification customers can:

  • View UL Standards materials online in HTML format
  • Download and print UL Standards materials in Adobe PDF format
  • Add other UL Standards users within their companies
  • Set up a customized library of Standards specific to their business
  • Receive email notification of all updates, including revisions and proposals, to designated Standards

In addition to providing certification customers with free access to the Standards library, UL is taking additional steps to protect its intellectual property. As part of this effort, UL has published a new Standards copyright and distribution policy. A key point in this policy is that no UL Standard or Standards-related material, including revisions, bulletins and meeting reports, may be duplicated or distributed without the consent of UL’s vice president of standards.

For more information on UL’s Standards library or to access the site, please call 888-853-3503 or visit the UL Standards website.
