LMS International and the Tongji University Automotive College in China recently signed an agreement that establishes the Tongji - LMS Automotive NVH & Durability Technology Center at the Shanghai campus of Tongji University. The cooperation gives LMS access to the state-of-the-art test facilities for NVH and durability engineering at Tongji University, and will extend the capabilities of LMS Engineering Service to execute vehicle development projects for its automotive customers in China. Through this cooperation, Tongji and LMS will also establish a joint research center for automotive technology and engineering, with a specific focus to increase the technology know-how of the Chinese automotive industry in terms of NVH, durability and handling.
Tongji University recently established one of the most comprehensive NVH and durability labs for automotive engineering in China, and hosts an extensive infrastructure for virtual simulation. The new testing facility comprises an NVH chassis dyno, which is fit for in room pass-by noise testing, an NVH driveline dyno, several engine dyno’s, a multi axis shaker table, and an axle durability rig. In addition to its modern facilities, the University also hosts a well-qualified education team and offers a broad expertise in automotive engineering.
Tongji University and LMS decided to join forces because LMS’ extensive solutions portfolio, service capabilities and technology leadership complement the know-how and technology capabilities at Tongji University. To support the strong growth of its engineering services activities in China, LMS gains strategic access to the new facilities. Through the cooperation, LMS can perform advanced testing assignments at the Automotive Technology Center and offer a complete local support in the execution of co-development or troubleshooting projects for the Chinese automotive industry.
LMS will also support the Center in its research and training activities with know-how, software and testing systems. The Technology Center will focus on introducing advanced research and development technology for automotive engineering into the China automotive industry. The Center will carry out extensive research projects on automotive development topics. The areas of cooperation include physical prototype testing and virtual prototype simulation for attributes like NVH, acoustics, structural dynamics, ride and handling and durability.
