India’s Central Chronicle reports:
Pithampur, which has earned the sobriquet of the Detroit of India for being hub of various automobile industries, will soon emerge as an important destination for Formula 1 car race in the country. A beginning in this regard has already been made with development of the National Automotive Test Track (NATRAX) here, the longest so far in the country. With the development of this track, Pithampur will become an important destination for Automotive testing and special racing events in the country.
The track has been developed by the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP), a project under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. It aims to establish world class proving grounds across at Pithamnpur spread-over in an area of 4,123 acres of land, in addition to six other testing centres across India.
The Economic Times reports:
The BAJA SAEINDIA 2007, India’s first ever vehicle design and build competition culminated at the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP) facility in Pithampur near Indore.
The event hosted participation of 27 engineering student teams which were shortlisted out of 52, nationwide. 411 bright, aspiring engineering students who are presently studying in their undergraduate course participated in the event with great gusto and passion.
BAJA SAEINDIA is the biggest HR platform for Automobile and Mechanical Engineering students to be inducted into renowned automobile manufacturing companies. The event was an opportunity for the students to test and hone their marketing and entrepreneurial skills besides their technical know how.
