Ruggedized System Controls Dynos

February 8th, 2007

The HOST Cell Control System (CCS) consists of a fan-less processor, compact flash storage, and a real-time operating system. This design eliminates the three most common hardware failures: processor overheating, hard drive failure, and virus susceptibility. The system is compatible with any dynamometer system and can control the dynamometer, fan, robot (throttle or throttle & brake actuator), and data acquisition.

The HOST software enables users to connect from anywhere and control any test cell controller in their facility. It provides tools to create displays, sequences, drive curves, grade profiles, test monitors, and data acquisition schemes. The displays are created by simply dragging and dropping icons such as bar gauges, radial gauges, thermometers, and graphs onto the screen. This allows users to monitor the data that is vital for their specific tests. Sequences are easily created using the control blocks from the tool box. Users just drag and drop them into and executable flow chart. Once finished, it can be executed by simply pressing the play button. The software also has all of the standard features of any development tool; auto complete typing, a library to check solutions in and out, and detachable tool pallets for customizing the work space.
