Patent Filed for Humidity Measuring Bend Sensor

December 16th, 2005

Flexpoint Sensor Systems recently filed a patent for a Hygrometer Bend Sensor, an instrument that measures the moisture content or the humidity of air or any gas. This technology opens an entirely new market for Flexpoint and its patented technologies.

Flexpoint’s engineers originally discovered the Bend Sensor’s ability to measure humidity while working on automotive applications. The engineers realized that by changing the sensor’s chemical compounds and bending the sensor to reveal its microscopic fractures, the sensor could very accurately measure changes in electrical resistance caused by humidity. They then conducted tests in environmental chambers to verify the accuracy. Flexpoint claims that the sensors are more accurate than comparable hygrometers on the market.
