The Roanoke Daily Herald reports on a presentation by Simon Cobb, director of North Carolina Operations for Lotus Engineering, to a North Carolina business association that outlined the status and goals of the North Carolina Center for Automotive Research. According to Cobb, Lotus, who’s developing and operating the facility, knows exactly what auto manufacturers around the world are looking for in a test track and they have incorporated those features into the design to appeal to the widest possible spectrum of auto makers.
On the flip side, the Toledo Blade reports that Dana Corporation has closed its Monroe County (OH) test facility. According to the report, the 320-acre Technical Resource Park employed approximately 70 people and housed two test tracks. A company spokesman said that the facility could be used again if Dana does not sell the property.
