According to the Sudbury Star, the new mechanical engineering program at Laurentian University is working on a project to help automakers develop better engine tests. The article, Making a better auto; Laurentian university researcher making a prototype for the car industry describes the work of Prof. Markus Timusk, currently the only professor in the program, who is developing an improved engine test stand. In conjunction with the new test stand, he is developing a fault-detection module to alert engineers when a component has failed a test.
