New Bosch Tech Center Includes Test Facilities

Robert Bosch has opened a new technical center in Plymouth Township, MI, including a 70,000 sq.-ft. test laboratory employing 60 engineers and technicians working on development studies, design verification and production validation test plans.

Facility testing capabilities include environmental chambers, center of competence vibration testing, noise vibration harshness chambers, electro- magnetic chamber, metallurgy and wiper lab. Additionally, the Plymouth Township Technical Center houses a machine shop, quality lab, equipment crib, small motor dynamometers, vehicle hoist, and powder coat and paint booths.

Bosch products designed and tested at the Plymouth Township Technical Center include:

  • Intelligent Bolt (iBolt) airbag releasing sensors,
  • adaptive cruise control (ACC) systems that detect vehicles traveling in front, and
  • predictive safety systems (PSS) that use information from an ACC system to recognize emergency braking situations.
