J1939 Product Guide On Line

July 20th, 2006

CAN in Automation (CiA) GmbH has published the first Product Guide for J1939-based devices and services on the group’s web site and on CD-ROM. The guide lists products conforming to several J1939-based higher-layer protocols (SAE J1939-71, ISO 11992, ISO 11783, and NMEA 2000).

The aim of the product guide is to simplify the search for J1939-based products, including test equipment. J1939-based higher layer protocols are commonly used in on-highway and off-highway vehicles for in-vehicle networking (SAE J1939-71) and for truck/trailer communication (ISO 11992). Other application fields include marine navigation systems (NMEA 2000) as well as agriculture and forestry machines (ISO 11783, also known as Isobus).

Detailed product information, convenience of listing by product type, by manufacturer, by name and by industry group (e.g. On Highway, Agricultural and Forestry Equipment, Construction Equipment) enable users to find and compare products in one location. Technical information about physical layer and application layer compliance provides the basis for informed decisions.
