EMC Test System Includes 100 A Coupler

September 27th, 2005

The latest automotive component test system from Schaffner includes the NSG 5500 for testing capacitive discharge transient immunity, the NSG 5600 for testing supply voltage variation, and the PA 5840 battery simulator.

The company claims that the NSG 5500’s internal 100 A coupler provides greater accuracy than standard external couplers. The NSG 5600 can be used independently or in conjunction with the NSG 5500. Using it, companies can simulate power dips and drops and transformer-coupled sinusoidal noise.

The new PA 5840 provides battery simulation for both the NSG 5500 and the NSG 5600. The battery simulator provides a bandwidth of 150 kHz and in inrush current three times greater than the continuous rating of 25 A, 50 A, and 100 A. The unit generates Pulse 2b, Pulse 4, sine wave noise, and other complex waveforms.

Pricing for a complete system starts at $23,000, and delivery is six to eight weeks ARO. For more information, visit the Schaffner website.
