Design News has just run an interesting article on the Consumer Union’s automotive test facilites—A Virtual Visit to the Mecca of Auto Ratings: Consumers Union’s Track and Test Facility. Although not incredibly technical, the article discusses the test lab’s
- 4,100-foot-long straightaway,
- rock hill course for off-roading,
- vehicle handling circuit, two skid pads,
- 1.5-mile ride evaluation course, and
- buildings dedicated to tire and headlight testing.
